Verse Segment

Walks outward from a reference, across verse and chapter boundaries, to the nearest genuine sentence terminators, and returns the assembled full statement -- so a single-verse quote is never a fragment of a longer sentence.

Note: this endpoint returns JSON only.

Parameters

reference (required) — Bible reference in plain text, such as John 3:16 or Romans 12.
translation (optional) — Translation code. Only 'kjv' is implemented; any other value returns an explicit error rather than a silent single-verse fallback.
Defaults to kjv
